Trey Turner proposed to Kelsey Kramer on the Brooklyn Bridge, a place special to them because of the water and the view of New York City. In his nervousness, Turner dropped the engagement ring; and it fell through the walkway they were standing on. Their call for help was answered by Doug Reese, an engineer on the bridge construction crew. Reese found the ring within a few minutes on a temporary construction shield under the walkway. Because Reese had proposed to his wife atop a Mayan pyramid in Mexico, Turner’s proposal had a “familiar ring” to it.
Irmgard Holm was aware that bottles containing very different contents can be almost identical in size and shape. Nevertheless, that explained why the Arizona woman couldn’t see out of one eye. After reaching for one of her half-dozen bottles of eye drops, she inadvertently put Super Glue in her eye. The burning sensation immediately alerted her to the fact that something was wrong; but before she could wash out her eye, it was glued shut. Thankfully, emergency room staff was successful in cutting off the hardened glue and washing out her eye. However, one woman’s mistake can be an “eye-opening” lesson for all of us.
Eric Swenson is the chief of police in Sebeka, Minnesota. On Friday, October 8th he called the sheriff’s office to report that several pieces of police equipment had been stolen from his home. The weekend passed without the stolen goods being recovered. However, on Monday Swenson called the sheriff’s office again – this time to report that he’d broken the case. The police radio, a pair of night vision goggles, gas shotgun rounds, loaded magazines for both a handgun and an AR-15 rifle and stun grenades had been in his children’s backyard fort. Perhaps one of his children had been a “fort-uneteller”.
Janice Ruple, the elections administrator in Atascosa County, Texas blamed the previous administrator. The absentee ballots for the November 2, 2010 election had the flag of Chile on them. The flags of Chile and Texas both have a white stripe on the top, a red stripe on the bottom and a single star in the middle of a blue field. However, the Chilean flag’s blue field is in the top-left corner. Texas’ is along the left side. In spite of Ruple saying she’s wasn’t responsible, one would expect she got a “Chile” reception in the county seat.
